One wild story from ancient Rome involves the Emperor Elagabalus, who ruled from 218 to 222 CE. Elagabalus was known for his eccentric and scandalous behavior. One of the most bizarre aspects of his reign was his devotion to the sun god Elagabal (also known as Deus Sol Invictus).

The most outrageous event took place when Elagabalus married the vestal virgin Aquilia Severa, breaking a sacred vow of celibacy. This scandalous union was seen as a sacrilegious act, as the vestal virgins were meant to remain chaste throughout their service.

Elagabalus' rule was marked by extravagance, debauchery, and religious eccentricities. His reign eventually ended in assassination, and his bizarre and controversial antics have left a lasting imprint on the history of ancient Rome.
