About this video
Codes and ciphers have been widely used since antiquity, but it’s only in recent decades that cryptography has become a true science. These days it is ubiquitous in software, but few developers know much about it. In this talk Eleanor will take you on a tour through the often inadequate cryptography that’s been used over the years, and give you an understanding of what cryptography is today.
Eleanor McMurtry (they/them) has been coding since they were a kid, making very bad games in GameMaker 6.0. Today they are a student of cryptography, having studied at the University of Melbourne and soon to start their PhD at ETH Zürich. Eleanor is married to a lovely non-binary human and they take doting care of two young cats.
