Don Pearson's Poetry & Gallery Encounter 🎨

I had been introduced <br />to some poets at the gallery. <br />We talked while Robin and Adrian <br />played guitars. <br />Words like 'serendipity', 'synergy', and 'synchronicity' <br />were bouncing around <br />like excited children. <br /> <br />Suddenly, 'Poetry saved my life.' <br /> <br />Intense. Simple. <br />I looked at her. <br />There was no doubt <br />that she meant it literally. <br /> <br />I said nothing in reply. <br />I was not ready <br />for that conversation <br />with someone <br />whom I had just met. <br />Had I said that I understood, <br />it might have been thought <br />just a throwaway remark. <br /> <br />But a memory surfaced: - <br />being unable to buy food <br />for the next day <br />because I could not see <br />any future beyond <br />the impending night. <br /> <br />28th January 2013<br /><br />Don Pearson<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/poetry-278/
