Movie Plot:
Don opens in the criminal underworld of Mumbai, where the elusive and ruthless gangster Don is wanted in eleven countries. Despite intense efforts by law enforcement, Don remains untouchable. During a police chase, Don is fatally wounded and dies in secret—only DSP D'Silva knows of his death. To dismantle Don’s syndicate, D'Silva recruits Vijay, a street performer who is Don’s exact lookalike.

Vijay is trained to impersonate Don and infiltrate the gang. In return, D'Silva promises to support the education of Vijay’s adopted children, Deepu and Munni. Vijay enters the gang posing as an amnesiac Don recovering from injuries. He gains access to the gang’s secrets and provides D'Silva with a diary containing critical information.

Complications arise when Roma, whose brother and fiancée were killed by Don, joins the gang seeking revenge. She nearly kills Vijay, mistaking him for Don, until D'Silva intervenes. Just as Vijay is about to expose the gang, D'Silva is killed in a shootout, leaving Vijay without an ally or proof of his true identity.

Now hunted by both the police and Don’s gang, Vijay must outwit everyone to prove his innocence and bring the criminals to justice. The film culminates in a thrilling sequence of revelations, action, and redemption.

With a legendary soundtrack by Kalyanji–Anandji, including hits like “Khaike Paan Banaraswala” and “Yeh Mera Dil”, Don became a cultural phenomenon. Written by Salim–Javed, the film blends suspense, style, and social commentary, and was later remade into a successful franchise.
