Do you have to know coding to be a quant?

In this video, Zachary (WSO Academy student) shares how he passed DRW’s challenging online tests — even with minimal coding skills. The test had a strict 2-hour time limit and required some coding, but what really helped him succeed was preparation in brain teasers, probability questions, and contest-style math.

His journey proves that while coding is useful for quants, problem-solving and analytical thinking can be just as important. This experience was another key step toward his current role as a quant at the Investment Strategy Group at Goldman Sachs in London.
