Worms is a city south of Frankfurt which is spelt like the English word worms but has nothing to do with the slithery creature. The name comes from the Latin Wormatia and indeed the town was first settled back in Roman times. It has a long and interesting history and one of Germany's most famous legends,the story of Siegfried the dragon slayer,comes from Worms.
