About this video
The Multi Block Classic Ice Art Championship over 18 tons of carved ice per sculpture. The world ice art championship is held in Fairbanks, Alaska each year between mid February and the end of March. Presented by Ice Alaska in the Tanana Valley State Fairgrounds.
With all 6 place winning sculptures in the Multi Block completion. Teams from around the world are given 6 days Teams are composed of four sculptors. Each team is given 9 blocks of ice. Each ice block measures approximately 4ft x 6ft x 3.3ft. (1.2m x 1.8m x 1.0m). Each team will be sculpting a minimum of 36,000 pounds of ice. Teams use hand and/or power tools to cut and shape the ice and may work around the clock if they choose.
The contest is the largest of its kind in the world and attended by more than 100 sculptors from 30 countries every year.
