The Beijing Central Axis has been added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List. But what is the Beijing Central Axis?<br /><br />In fact, it represents the traditional Chinese city planning philosophy. <br /><br />The Central Axis runs north to south across the heart of Beijing, with a number of ancient structures either along the way, or scattered symmetrically along the axis. <br /><br />The construction started in the 13th century, and lasted until the 16th century.
