Amazing History of Doi Suthep, its temple and views of Chiang Mai.<br />A monk was transporting a Buddhist relic when it broke into two, and the discerning monk figured that he needed to buy the relic in two locations. <br />They put the broken part on an elephant and it went up Doi Suthep and died there, so the monk said it must be the chosen place. Then volunteers used their hands and local material to build the road towards the temple, where it stands today.<br />The tour guide says "you have not visited Chiang Mai unless you have seen Doi Suthep".<br />Doi Suthep has a high point that overlook the city of Chiang Mai.
