Did you know India built Asia’s first nuclear reactor in 1956? 🇮🇳⚛️ On August 4, 1956, at 3:45 p.m., history was made at Trombay’s Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) when Apsara Reactor reached critical condition—making India the first Asian country to achieve nuclear capability! 🌍

Apsara, named by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, symbolized brilliance and elegance. It was a swimming pool-type reactor fueled with enriched uranium from the UK. Spearheaded by Dr. Homi Bhabha, the father of India’s nuclear program, it supported research in nuclear physics, material science, isotope production, and contributed to cancer treatment, agriculture, and industry with isotopes like Cobalt-60. 🏥🌾⚙️
