We introduce the definition of a diagonal matrix. We'll see examples and nonexamples of diagonal matrices and look at some nice properties of diagonal matrices which make matrix operations with diagonal matrices easy to carry out. We consider powers of a diagonal matrix, inverses of diagonal matrices, and matrix products with diagonal matrices. A diagonal matrix is a square matrix where all off diagonal entries are zero. #linearalgebra
