Part 4: ✍️Sketch to Vector!
In this next part of the series where I design my own logo, we are finally ready to start designing!
Because I suck at drawing, for me the sketching and design phase go hand-in-hand. I use simple line connections in a notebook for speed, and then I’m into the software as fast as possible.
(I have a whole course on this called ‘Turbocharge Your Logo Designs’ and you can sign up to my community at designerrrs.com where this is included!)
Essentially, I write out my brand nouns and start trying to smoosh them together, or combine them with a piece of type to create a unique symbol. I’m looking for similarities in the shapes to see if any pieces of them overlap.
During THIS process I managed to find an abstract representation of a thumbs up formed with a few shapes (the building blocks of my designs), which leaves the direct selection tool symbol from Illustrator inside the mark!
The thumbs up 👍 represents the education side of the business, and the direct selection tool represents the design side. Ticking both boxes from my brief in parts 1, 2 and 3 from this series. Score!
I really like this design, but please give me honest feedback in the comments. Does this feel like me and my business, or have I missed the mark?
Follow me and come back for part 5! 👍 (thumbs up!)
