DepEd to Consult Stakeholders on Trimestral System 📚

The Education Department (DepEd) will consult various groups on its proposal to shift to a trimestral system by School Year 2026–2027. These groups include legislators, teachers, and stakeholders. But several groups have criticized the proposal. They say it fails to address the most urgent problems that continue to drive the education crisis. These include the lack of classrooms, low and non-livable wages for teachers, excessive clerical and non-teaching work, insufficient and error-ridden textbooks, and the reality that many students come to school hungry. DepEd says they take the views of their stakeholders seriously. It also clarified that the trimestral system remains a proposal and that no final decision has been made.
