Difference between Cybersecurity and Information Security!

Cybersecurity usually deals with cybercrimes, cyber frauds, cyberattacks and cyber law enforcement. On the contrary, information security deals with unauthorized access, disclosure modification and disruption of information.

Cybersecurity is concerned with protecting electronic devices and mobile devices against cyberattacks in cyberspace. On the flip side, Information security is concerned with protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.

Cybersecurity professionals are most concerned with preventing active threats, such as hacking attempts and viruses. On the other hand, Information Security professionals have a broader responsibility to establish security policies, procedures, and organizational roles and responsibilities to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information.

In short, the difference between Information Security and Cybersecurity is that cybersecurity protects IT systems from unauthorized electronic access, whilst information security protects information assets regardless of whether the information is in physical or digital format.
