In this video, we break down the key changes you need to know so your organisation stays compliant and secure.
🔐 What’s New in the April 2026 Cyber Essentials Update?
In this video, we cover the major changes, including:
✔ Mandatory Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA)
MFA is now required across:
All cloud services
All admin accounts
All remote access systems
Password less authentication (passkeys, biometrics, hardware tokens) is now formally accepted.
✔ Expanded Scope Requirements
Cloud services can no longer be excluded from scope.
You must clearly define your scope and list any exclusions (not publicly visible).
Any exclusions must be fully justified and separated from in‑scope networks.
✔ Tighter Vulnerability & Patch Management
High‑risk and critical vulnerabilities must be patched within 14 days.
CE+ assessments now involve stricter retesting and validation.
✔ Application Development Updates
“Web Applications” is now expanded to Application Development.
Organisations must demonstrate secure coding practices and application patching.
