At least 25 dead in Haiti as Hurricane Melissa tears through Caribbean — Cuba, Jamaica, and the Bahamas braced for more destruction
• At least 25 people have been killed in Haiti after a river burst its banks amid torrential rains from Hurricane Melissa, which continues to sweep across the Caribbean with devastating force.
• According to the mayor of Petit-Goâve, floodwaters surged through communities after the river overflowed, sweeping away homes and vehicles. Rescue operations are ongoing, but local officials fear the death toll could rise.
• In Cuba, authorities reported “significant damage” after Melissa made landfall on Wednesday morning as a Category 3 hurricane. Approximately 140,000 residents have been cut off by rising river levels as the storm lashes the island and moves toward the Bahamas.
• Melissa earlier struck Jamaica as one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes on record, causing widespread damage to public infrastructure and leaving most of the island without power. Three people were killed during storm preparations in Jamaica, and one person died in the Dominican Republic.

Penal woman and daughters tied up and robbed during early-morning home invasion
• A 42-year-old housewife was tied up and robbed of jewellery, cash, and her vehicle during a home invasion in Penal early Monday morning.
• Police said the incident occurred around 5:12 a.m. On October 27, 2025, at a home along Seemungal Trace, Rock Road, Penal.

Man dies after being shot multiple times at Calder Hall Field, Tobago
• The victim, identified as Ronald Butcher was shot multiple times at Calder Hall Field in Tobago.
• He was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital, where he later died on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025.

Mayaro man killed in police-involved shooting at fishing port— cops claim he drew a gun for them.
• Police fatally shot a man during an armed confrontation at the Guayaguayare Fishing Port, Mayaro, early Monday morning.
• The deceased has been identified as Ainsley Glenn Gonzales of Calmapas Village, Guayaguayare.

U.S. launches lethal strikes on narco-terrorists at sea; 14 killed on Monday.
• Monday, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War carried out three lethal kinetic strikes on four vessels operated by designated terrorist organizations (DTOS) trafficking narcotics in the eastern Pacific.
Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, the Hon. Dr Ralph Gonsalves, declared the 2025 general elections to take place on Thursday, November 27th, 2025.
• This announcement was made a short while ago at a United Labour Party rally at Richmond Hill in Kingstown.
• Pm Gonsalves also stated that parliament has been dissolved effectively immediately, confirming that nomination day will be on Monday, November 10th, 2025.
