About this video
Detailed and simplified lecture on one of basic concepts in biomechanics the Convex Concave rule.Human body movements involves both osteokinematic and arthokinematic movement. The Convec Concabe rule is a realtionship between both this artho and osteokinematics. The arthokinematic movements involves Roll, Glide or slide and Spin. In human movements most often the glide and roll occurs together and the roll or rolling always occurs in direction of movement of bony lever itself whereas the slide or glide can be either in same or opposite direction. The convex concave rule states that when a convex atricular surface is moving on a relatively fixed articular surface the gliding or sliding occurs opposite to the bony movement or more clearly the arthokinematic movement of gliding occurs opposite to osteokinematic movement of the bone. Whereas when tne concave is moving on fixed convex the arthokinematic movement of slide or glide occurs in same direction as the bone movement.
