Colonial Pipeline Ransomware Attack 🚨

One of the largest U.S. pipelines, stretching across 14 states between Houston, TX and New York Harbor and providing 45% of the fuel for the U.S. East Coast, was shut down after Colonial Pipeline was hit by #DarkSide #ransomware.
DarkSide has issued a statement that they are not politically motivated, and only go after money in their attacks, which could indicate that this attack was not a political attempt to disrupt infrastructure.
Colonial Pipeline shut down the pipeline as a precautionary measure, in case the attackers stole data that could lead to further attacks on the infrastructure directly, and are working with industry experts to restore services. At this time, the attack vector is not known.
