Colombia Negotiates Verification Measures Ahead of Ceasefire 🤝

TeleSUR correspondent Natalia Margarita explains that before implementing a bilateral ceasefire, President Juan Manuel Santos insists that agreements be reached on security guarantees and verification mechanisms. Santos is calling on the United Nations to act as a verifier, and the FARC has proposed that UNASUR be a verifier, as well. FARC Commander Timochenko’s recent complaint about the government continuing to attack the guerrillas in no way dangers the peace process, says Margarita. The FARC leader is simply demanding once again that the government implement a bilateral ceasefire. teleSUR
