Colombia Launches Major Security Initiative to Ensure Safe Elections 🇨🇴

Colombian authorities have mounted a major plan to guarantee the security of and prevent electoral fraud, disturbances, and violence in Sunday's regional and local elections. In September the Electoral Observation mission reported that electoral fraud was a real possibility in 20% of the municipalities with massive vote buying. Many, however, feel that given such entrenched practices and ties between traditional political elites, paramilitary groups, and drug traffickers, little can be done for the time being.
