China Didn’t Warn Public of Likely <br />Pandemic for 6 Key Days According to 'AP News,' top Chinese officials <br />determined they were likely facing a pandemic <br />from a new coronavirus on Jan. 14. Over the course of the next six days, <br />millions of people began traveling across the <br />country for the celebration of Chinese New Year. The city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the disease, <br />hosted a mass banquet for tens of thousands of people. On Jan. 20, President Xi Jinping warned the <br />Chinese public about the outbreak, at which <br />time approximately 3,000 people became infected. Officials tried to walk the line between <br />warning the public and avoiding hysteria. The Chinese Government has <br />repeatedly denied suppressing <br />information regarding the outbreak.
