Carney announces $2.5B for Ukraine in meeting with President Zelenskyy | FULL

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced $2.5 billion in economic assistance to Ukraine in a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday in Halifax.

"We're announcing today further economic assistance for Ukraine. $2.5 billion worth of economic assistance that helps unlock financing from the IMF, from the World Bank, from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development," Carney said.

Zelenskyy made the stop in Canada before heading to the United States for crucial meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war in Ukraine following Russia's invasion of the country in February 2022.

The in-person meeting comes a day after Zelenskyy took to social media to share that he had a “good conversation” with Carney over the phone.
