Canada's economic strategy to "dramatically" change after rupture with US trade ties: Carney

On Friday, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney gave a speech at the Canadian Club Toronto to elaborate on the 2025 federal budget, highlighting the need for a "dramatic" economic strategy change under the straining trade ties with the U.S.

“The world has become more dangerous and divided, and that decades-long process of an ever-closer economic relationship between Canada and the United States is over,” Carney said, adding that this was "not a transition, it's a rupture."

Carney assured that coveted social programs such as childcare, dental care, and the national school food program would be preserved in this budget.
