Monica Breen was set to be involved with a Buffy reboot before Disney seemingly brought it to a halt. Monica hadn't flat-out stated that she wouldn't race-swap Buffy after its initial announcement in 2018. Recently, during a podcast, she did make it clear that the new slayer wasn't intended to be a race-swapped Buffy. Kendare Blake's novels are already owned by Disney, and she has expressed interest in wanting to see these stories turned into a tv show. The reboot hasn't been canceled but paused according to an executive producer. Blake is tackling a very important topic that makes it an appropriate step in this universe. Buffy is still having a reboot worked on at Disney according to Dolly Parton. Sarah Michelle Gellar is open to return now.
