Moreno Valley brush fire is rapidly spreading as powerful Santa Ana winds fuel explosive growth, triggering evacuations and a massive emergency response in Riverside County.

A fast-moving vegetation fire known as the Springs Fire broke out near Gilman Springs Road east of Moreno Valley, California, initially burning around 50 acres before quickly exploding to nearly 1,000 acres within a short time. Fire officials say the blaze is being driven by gusty Santa Ana winds and burning through dry, “flashy fuels,” creating dangerous and unpredictable fire behavior.

Evacuation orders have been issued for areas near Lake Perris, while road closures remain in effect across Moreno Valley and Hemet as crews work to contain the fire.
