Afghan Afghani Surpasses Indian Rupee 🇦🇫

About this video

Many people are surprised to see that the Afghan currency, the Afghani, is stronger than the Indian rupee when compared directly. At present, one Afghan afghani is worth more than one Indian rupee. On paper, this makes it look like Afghanistan’s currency is stronger, but the reality is more complicated than that.

A higher currency value does not mean that a country is richer or has a stronger economy. The exchange rate only shows how much one unit of a currency is worth compared to another. India’s economy is far larger, more industrialised, and more stable than Afghanistan’s. The reason the Afghani appears stronger is because of how currencies are valued, managed, and traded, not because Afghanistan’s economy is doing better.

Each country sets its currency value based on its inflation, supply of money, and demand in international markets. Sometimes, a country may have a high-value currency simply because fewer units of it exist, or because the government has fixed the rate differently. On the other hand, a country with a big population and large money supply, like India, may have a lower-value currency per unit even though its economy is much stronger overall.

So while it is true that one Afghani equals more than one rupee, that fact alone doesn’t mean the Afghani is truly stronger. What really matters is how stable the currency is, how much it can buy within the country, and how the overall economy performs. By those measures, India’s economy remains far stronger and more stable than Afghanistan’s, despite the difference in currency value.
