Storm Dennis Devastates Britain: Over 200 Flood Warnings in Effect 🌊

Britain continues to count the cost of Storm Dennis, as more than 200 flood warnings remain in place, including nine severe warnings in the west Midlands - meaning there is a danger to life.

On Monday evening, West Mercia Police said it had found the body of a woman swept away by floodwater near Tenbury in Worcestershire. Officers have named her as 55-year-old Yvonne Booth from Great Barr in Birmingham.

Storm Dennis battered the country with winds of more than 90mph over the weekend, while more than a month's worth of rain fell in 48 hours in places.

South Wales, Hedford and Tenbury Wells are among the areas most affected by the severe weather conditions.

An "emergency evacuation" took place for some streets in Hereford due to flooding and the River Wye recorded its highest ever level.

Meanwhile in Monmouth homes were evacuated after four severe flood warnings along the river were issued.

Water levels are predicted to reach 7.2 metres when the peak passes through the Monmouthshire county town between 3am and 7am on Tuesday.

Residents living in areas at immediate risk have been evacuated and other properties nearby have been provided with sandbags and support.
