About this video
Tom Whitwell who we first encontered with his excellent Music Thing blog back in the day, introduced us to his latest creation, the Workshop System.
Tom explained that this all-in-one analog synthesizer combined a traditional synthesizer framework with the flexibility of a computer. This unique blend allows for myriad functions, shifting seamlessly from a Turing Machine sequencer to a reverb or a MIDI interface, thanks to its program card feature. The system uses a simple RP2040 chip for a diverse range of coding capabilities while maintaining affordability. It includes features like two 70s-style transistor oscillators and two clean humpback filters.ย
Tom's vision was to create a system that not only stands alone but interfaces smoothly with existing gear.
Available as a DIY kit through Thonk soon.
