The sugarcane agitation in Karnataka’s Belagavi district has escalated — from a farmer protest into a full-blown political fight. Visuals show highways blocked and operations halted in 26 sugar factories across the region.

Farmers are demanding a Minimum Support Price of ₹3,500 per ton — and have rejected the ₹3,200 per ton offer from sugar mills. The Siddaramaiah government says talks will be held with farmer representatives — but the BJP has now stepped in, accusing the state of protecting sugar mill lobbies instead of growers.

With both the Congress government and BJP now trading charges — the standoff in Belagavi could decide whether this crisis stays contained… or becomes a statewide political flashpoint.
