Austin Manuel: Discover the Meaning Behind His Indie-Folk Sound 🎶

About this video

BROUGHT TO YOU IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE RHYTHM BUILDING at MUSIC ROW in NASHVILLE TENNESSEE and THERECORDSHOPNASHVILLE.COM

"Aching, elegant indie-folk that echoes early Rufus Wainwright with its crawling pace and Manuel's glassy, slurred vocals."
- Dave Paulson, Nashville Rage Magazine

"Austin Manuel has been a veteran in the music scene here for a few years. Now this fall, the Nashville native releases a beautiful debut EP called Envy the Moon.

"Lush and thoughtful production by Greg Everett lays an undulating ocean on which the melodies swell and sink; I pictured them as boats. The EP crests with the Beatles-esque "Rain Clouds" and gently breaks into "Leah," with lyrics that allude to a chausse-marée on a night in the 18th century.

"Austin cites two of his influences as Claude Debussy and Jeff Buckley. Debussy's sense of romance and space and Buckley's willingness to rock and soar are echoed in his work. Envy uses strings, horns, and crackling electrics to round out his sound in a way that is classically indie.

"We can look forward to this and whatever else emanates from the mind of Austin Manuel. Look for the release of Envy the Moon later this fall."
-Brooke Campbell, The Rabbit Press

"Aching, elegant indie-folk that echoes early Rufus Wainwright with its crawling pace and Manuel's glassy, slurred vocals."
- Dave Paulson, Nashville Rage Magazine

"Austin Manuel has been a veteran in the music scene here for a few years.
