Athletic Bilbao Honors Palestine at San Mamés 🏟️

In a moving display of solidarity, Athletic Bilbao Club invited a group of Palestinian refugees living in the Basque Country onto the pitch before their LaLiga clash against Mallorca on Saturday at San Mamés. As the players and guests lined up, the stadium erupted in a standing ovation, with thousands of fans waving Palestinian flags and applauding warmly.

This historic gesture makes Athletic Bilbao Club the first LaLiga team to officially honour Palestine. The club’s president spoke of football’s unique power to unite communities, emphasising that the sport can serve as a platform for dignity, humanity, and justice.
