Amazon confirmed Thursday it is laying off staff in Amazon Web Services as part of a broader effort to streamline operations and refocus priorities, according to CNBC. The company declined to disclose which teams were affected or the number of employees affected. AWS’ training and certification unit was among those impacted, according to a memo obtained by CNBC. Amazon stated that the move was not primarily driven by AI investments, but rather is part of its ongoing restructuring efforts. CEO Andy Jassy has overseen more than 27,000 job cuts since 2022 and warned last month that generative AI could further reduce the corporate workforce.
