The Irish composer Bernadette Marmion was born and brought up in Dublin. She studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, where she later taught, and at University College, Dublin. Her compositions include piano pieces, chamber music, songs and choral works. <br />She says of this piece: 'Imagine a summer's day, with a boat gliding peacefully down a river; a light breeze gently stirs the willow trees which overhang the banks.
