India vs South Africa Final LIVE Score, Women’s ODI World Cup 2025: Shafali, Deepti fifties power IND to 298/7 | CNBC TV18
Indian women’s cricket team kept its date with history by winning its first-ever World Cup with a 52-run win against South Africa to script a golden chapter in the nation’s pantheon of sporting achievements in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, November 2.
Shafali Verma, the 21-year-old, who till last week was not even in the reserves, created memories of a lifetime by scoring 87 in India’s 298/7 and then grabbed two crucial wickets to restrict the Proteas Women to 246 in front of a packed DY Patil Stadium.
The Women in Blue have done it. They are crowned World Champions as they went on to beat South Africa by 52 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur and her side have created history, bringing home India's first-ever world title in women's cricket.
India vs South Africa Live Score, Women's World Cup Final: India post 298, South Africa need record chase. Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma laid a solid platform but South Africa pulled things back to restrict India at 298/7 in 50 overs after inviting them to bat first in the ICC Women's World Cup final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The pair added 104 for the first wicket before Mandhana was caught-behind for 45(58), featuring eight boundaries, off Chloe Tryon's bowling. Shafali helped India build further and was also handed a lifeline by Anneke Bosch on 56, who missed a routine opportunity at the deep square leg region. She was eventually dismissed for 87(78) after handing a simple catch to Sune Luus at mid-off off Ayabonga Khaka's bowling. Khaka then injected a second blow, packing Jemimah Rodrigues for 24(37), who was caught by Laura Wolvaardt at short cover.
South Africa will have to rewrite history if they are to topple India in the Women's World Cup 2025 final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday. Chasing 299, they face the challenge of overhauling the highest successful pursuit ever recorded in a World Cup final. India's total of 298 for seven – built on composed half-centuries from Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma – is the second-highest score in a Women's ODI World Cup title clash. For context, the biggest chase in a World Cup final remains England's 167 against New Zealand in 2009.
