When it comes to superhero media I feel like this year really brought us back from the drought that unfortunately the community was facing for quite a while now. I don’t really wanna jot this up to “superhero fatigue” but to be honest I was feeling this way since the finale of Gen V. With Peacemaker and Gen Vs questionable finales this game came out at a perfect time as I was just starting to question if it’s going down hill from here. And this game proved me wrong because MY GOD this shits peak let’s just dabble into this. We start our story off with our protagonist, Robert Robertson. Worst name ever I know but. He’s our protagonist aka Mecha Man in the Dispatch universe. You see, for 3 generations there has been a non-powered individual in a powered up mech in order to make up for their lack of strength and to have a way to help others like a hero would. The 2nd generation of Mecha Man or, Robert's dad was killed by a supervillain who Robert is currently going after. We start our story off with Robert currently trying to just run a gauntlet as a last desperate attempt to save his family's legacy, only to be running on duct tape and determination. Despite this however, Mecha Man gave it his damn best trying to fight. But in the end, he just barely escapes with his life intact, and his suit being unrepairable. And due to him blowing through his family's inheritance and even the insurance money he collected after his fathers passing, he broke himself and just barely gets by. Mecha Man after not appearing for 4 months will announce to the public his hiatus for now, with obviously you either saying Mecha man is officially retired, or you can say that it's not over or leave his fate inconclusive. I chose to punch this reporter personally just cause i felt like 1 that guy deserved it and 2 because it unironically felt best with how he felt. He pretty much did the opposite of what a hero is supposed to and failed his family's legacy. And due to Robert also being beaten up still he can't even beat up the average robber running around the city. As hope seems lost for him. We’d then have Blonde Blazer save Mecha Man from the robbers, and would be offered a drink. Before she even gives her proposition her and Mecha Man start talking and depending on your choices, you can clearly see the romantic interest from both parties. Now me personally my inner James Doakes kicked in and suspected that this girl is trying to sweet talk Robert and this seems almost like she wanted me to get on her good side. And I come to find out she has a proposition, which is for Robert to become a dispatcher but for superheroes, and use his expertise and intelligence to use while they repair Mecha Man's suit. Not only would he be helping society the best way he can and make a difference, but eventually return into his former glory better than ever. What's funny about this segment is that you actually get to help Phenomena Man, but also villains you as mecha Man have dealt with, which is pretty funny to see. We specifically get introduced to Flambae and Invisigirl who we have direct confrontations with. Flambae is someone he handled as mecha man and we the player get too humble as well without even making a move on our end. Invisigirl is someone who's very much the opposite of mecha man and acts selfish rather than selfless, making these two but heads. And judging off of episode 3 and 4s trailer, it seems that Robert is going to confront the team in one room, in order to get everyone on the same page. I believe not only can we see a potential comeback story for these villains and see how they grow,while we also see Robert himself get used to this and probably lead the team as Mecha Man possibly. The only issue I'm feeling though is without a doubt Blonder Blaze. After episode 2 it's confirmed she's with Phemoma Man, meaning YOU SICKOS WHO KISSED HER, now have to deal with those repercussions. It's just weird to me why she was moving like this even from the jump rather than getting straight to business. Maybe this could be another Omni Man situation but I'm not really sure since we lack general information on the other heroes. There's so much to unravel in this niche little universe and I can't wait to see where this actually goes. This could either be the next Walking Dead or fall short like other tell tale games.
