About this video

Math that keeps most game developers awake at night. 🦇👻 “The beauty of mathematics only shows itself to more patient followers.” — Mary Everest Boole Math is essential to making video games. And although most math is fun and easy to work with while making games (like linear algebra). There are some topics that scare us the most. 😉 🎃 Quaternion Algebra (my personal biggest fear) Rotations are essential for video games, but they can also twist your brain when developing. Quaternions use four numbers to represent orientation, avoiding gimbal lock and keeping rotations smooth, but their abstract math makes debugging feel like witchcraft. 🎃 Matrix Decomposition: Every 3D transformation (movement, rotation and scale) lives inside a 4×4 matrix. Matrix decomposition lets developers extract those pieces to animate, blend, or debug when something moves in a way it shouldn’t. 🎃 Integrators and Time-Step Instability Games fake motion using tiny math steps called integrators. But if your time step’s too big or your method’s unstable — boom — physics chaos. Your ragdoll turns into spaghetti. In the end; Math may be scary, but it’s also deeply admirable. Instead of fearing the complexity, try to see the beauty in how everything connects. 🫶 It can literally change everything. - - - - - - - Happy coding everyone! 👨‍💻 And Happy Halloween! 🎃👻 ~ Follow for game development and programming content! 🤩 @justinbieshaar . . 🏷️ #gamedev #gaming #programming #mathematics #math #coding #maths #physics #science #programmer #gamedeveloper #gameprogramming #indiedev #swe #stem
