What is post-quantum cryptography (PQC)?

Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) is the development of cryptographic systems that are secure against attack by quantum computers. Quantum computers are still in their early stages of development, but they have the potential to break many of the public-key cryptography algorithms that are currently used to protect our digital communications and data. PQC algorithms are based on mathematical problems that are thought to be difficult for quantum computers to solve. Some examples of PQC algorithms include lattice-based cryptography, code-based cryptography, and multivariate cryptography.
