A través del álbum, la tijuanense cuenta por primera vez la travesía que pasó a los 20 años tras un accidente de auto que la dejó al borde de la muerte y en coma durante un mes. “Me destruyó la vida y, también, de alguna manera me la reinició”, dice. Inspired by the art of drag and genres that range from cumbia to industrial and orchestral music, the singer works like a chameleon, seamlessly blending her goth doll aesthetic with a decidedly imperfect sound that functions as the soundtrack for those moments when darkness embraces you. “This album in particular, ‘DESDE EL COMA,’ is a sort of requiem for me,” BRUSES explains in an exclusive interview. Throughout the record, the Tijuana-native recounts – for the first time – the story of a car accident she experienced at 20 years old. The wreckage was a near death experience that put her in a coma for a month. “It destroyed my life and, in a way, it also helped me restart it,” she says. The result is a 15-song set that is as heart-wrenching as it is cathartic. BRUSES opens the doors to her mind and confronts death, mental health, relationships, and a symbolic rebirth.
