About this video

I found a family of Clownfish while I was in Thailand, during one of my dives, and managed to capture this stunning footage. It was a clown fish dream! With amazing corals, and crystal warm water. I could not believe the colours that place had. Clown fish, also known as anemonefish, are shy and aggressive, two qualities you might not expect in one of the most photographed fish in the ocean. They defend their home, their castle, the stinging anemone from all invaders, despite its formidable defences. You see, the anemone extends hundreds of slightly sticky stinging tentacles that sway in the ocean current in a bid to capture unsuspecting prey and this discourages invaders. Most sea creatures will avoid them cause its sting packs quite the wallop and I wouldn't want to get eaten by an anemone, but this is the place the clown fish chooses for its home. Even though the anemone offers a safe haven for the clown fish and its eggs, divers will see them ever vigilant, patrolling their home like castle guards to fend off any outsiders looking to make a meal out of their eggs. They might just be one of the most vigilant and aggressive fish in the ocean, living in a house that tries to eat other fish. Clown fish are usually found in small family groups and are native to the Indian and Pacific oceans including the Great Barrier Reef and the Red Sea. They form symbiotic mutualistic relationships with the sea anemone offering parasite removal and nutrient delivery services in exchange for the anemone's protection. They truly make great house guests, keeping the place quite tidy, and I love to photograph them.
