Sort by color to prevent bleeding and by weight to help your clothes dry evenly. Heavy items like jeans and towels slow down drying time, leaving lighter garments overcooked, wrinkled, and worn out. Cold water is ideal for most loads, about 85 degrees Fahrenheit / 30 degrees Celsius, gentle on fabric but still powerful enough to clean. When drying, avoid cranking up the heat. Lower heat and longer cycles are safer for your clothes, and stopping when they are slightly damp helps reduce wrinkles and static.
