Atomic ‘Doomsday Clock’ ticks closer to midnight

The clock is a device meant to represent the time left before humanity reaches a theoretical point of annihilation. The countdown was advanced by one second from 2024, to 89 seconds to midnight. The group cited nuclear threats, climate change and unregulated technological advancements as factors moving the clock’s hand.
