Als sein Gedächtnis nach und nach zurückkehrt, findet er heraus, was seine Mission ist: Er soll das Rätsel um eine mysteriöse Substanz lösen, die dazu führt, dass die Sonne erlischt. Um alles und jeden auf der Erde vor dem Aussterben zu bewahren, muss er auf sein wissenschaftliches Fachwissen und einige unorthodoxe Ideen zurückgreifen.
