About this video
In the 1930s, Polish cryptographers Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki, and Henryk Zygalski first made progress in breaking the Enigma code. Rejewski used mathematical techniques in 1932 to exploit weaknesses in Enigma's design and partially cracked the code. They even built a replica of the machine, allowing them to decrypt messages.
However, the complexity of the code increased as the Germans improved the Enigma, adding more rotors and frequently changing the settings. In July 1939, just before the war started, Poland shared its knowledge with France and Britain. This sharing of insights became the foundation for further breakthroughs by the Allies.
