2025 Ineos Grenadier in-depth Walkaround

The 2025 Ineos Grenadier debuts its first special edition, the 1924 Limited Edition, celebrating the centennial of British brand Belstaff. Limited to 1,924 units globally, it features Belstaff badges, exclusive Magic Mushroom and Inky Black paint, 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, and a black grille with dark grey skid plates. Inside, the cabin is accented with dark green and black leather trim. Mechanically, the Grenadier remains unchanged, retaining its BMW-sourced 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. Ineos has also introduced the Grenadier Quartermaster pickup, built on the same platform, with a four-door double cab and a 61.5-inch bed.

The Grenadier is powered by a 282 hp, 331 lb-ft turbocharged inline-six, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed mechanical transfer case. Standard features include a locking center differential, while the optional Rough Pack adds electrically locking front and rear axle differentials. The Trialmaster Edition enhances off-road capability with BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, a snorkel air intake, a second battery for powering 110-volt appliances and pre-wiring for additional off-road accessories. Unlike many rivals, the Grenadier lacks selectable terrain modes or advanced traction control, requiring driver skill for off-road performance. On-road, its low-geared steering, and solid axles demand frequent corrections, and the engine needs to be pushed for strong acceleration.

Inside, the Grenadier’s cabin is rugged yet thoughtfully designed, with durable materials and functional touches like an aircraft-style center panel with large, clearly labeled switches. The roof-mounted controls for optional locking differentials and a secondary "toot" horn for cyclists and pedestrians add to its charm. The utility is a strong point, with ample storage, including a deep center console, a large glovebox, and a spacious 44.3 cubic-foot luggage area. The Grenadier offers only two rows of seats despite its length, with rear legroom more limited than in most similarly sized SUVs.
