1972 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400: Why So Few? 🚗

In Episode 217 of Cars, Shops & Collections we head to Boulder City, NV to check out a 1972 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400. Find out why GM built so few of these cars.

Our friend Pontiac Ed is the owner of this Firebird. We first met in Episode 214 of Cars, Shops and Collections. In that Episode Ed showed us his 1970 Pontiac Judge, 1978 Pontiac Trans AM and his 1999 Anniversary Edition Trans Am. That Epsiode was shot three weeks ago… Since then Ed purchased this 1972 Formula 400. As soon as I saw Ed post the photos I knew we had to get back to Boulder City and film this Pontiac.

This episode has layers! We find out Ed’s personal connection to the car, discover how his 1978 TA is connected to the legendry Dave Hall at Restore a Muscle Car, plus we get a peak at Ed’s next project a 1972 Pontiac Le Mans Convertible.

Between labor strikes, shortened production and changing emissions regulations, the 1972 model year for GM became one of the strangest and most unique eras in muscle car history… And we break it all down in this episode.
