A fast-moving wildfire, known as the 23 Fire, is burning near Fort Carson in southern Colorado Springs, prompting a significant emergency response and raising concerns for nearby communities. The fire, fueled by dry conditions and gusty winds, has now grown to more than 1,000 acres after breaking through established containment lines.

Heavy smoke from the fire is visible for miles along the Front Range as crews work to regain control. Emergency responders, including local fire departments and military personnel from Fort Carson, are actively working to slow the spread and protect nearby homes and infrastructure.

Crews are using burning operations tonight to burn off fuel before winds gust to 30mph+ tomorrow.
