01 Understanding Equivalent Fractions 🧮 (Part 1)

In this lesson, you will learn what an equivalent fraction is and how to calculate equivalent fractions. An equivalent fraction is obtained by multiplying the numerator and the denominator of any fraction by the same number. No matter what number you multiply by, the new fraction will represent the same value of the original fraction. The new numerator and new denominator will be different numbers, but the fraction itself will remain unchanged in value. We work several examples to show how equivalent fractions are calculated, and we use models to show that the value of the new and old fraction are exactly the same.
