Manmohan Malhotra, an Indian-born man, relocates to London to build a successful life and eventually return to India. He marries Bebo, but after four years, he brings her to London on a visa. Bebo later gives birth to their daughter Jasmeet.

Manmohan, embarrassed by Bebo’s inability to speak English and fit into British society, often excludes her from social gatherings. Determined that her daughter not suffer the same fate, Bebo raises Jasmeet in a modern, English-speaking environment. Jasmeet grows up into Jazz—a beautiful, confident, and fully Westernized young woman who feels disconnected from her Indian roots.

Manmohan attempts to arrange Jazz’s marriage with a suitable Indian boy, Bobby Bedi, but the meeting is a disaster. Frustrated, he doubts he’ll ever find an Indian match for her. His friend Parvez Khan faces a similar issue: his son Imran is dating a British girl named Susan.

To reconnect Jazz with her heritage, Manmohan takes the family on a trip to India. There, he forces Jazz to marry a simple farmer named Arjun Singh, who appears not to speak English. Jazz sees this marriage as invalid and, upon returning to London, declares her intention to marry an Englishman named Charlie Brown, claiming there's no legal proof of her marriage to Arjun.

As she prepares for her wedding to Charlie, Jazz is introduced to his high-society friends but faces subtle racial insults and condescension. Arjun tries to support her, and in a moment of pride, speaks about India in Hindi while Jazz translates. This begins to shift her perspective.

Though Jazz becomes engaged to Charlie, Arjun remains silently heartbroken. He opens up to Manmohan in a bar, confessing his feelings and how Jazz’s rejection has broken him. Later, despite not knowing the game, Arjun agrees to play rugby against Charlie and his team—who mock the Indian and Pakistani players. Arjun leads his team to victory, earning admiration and rekindling feelings in Jazz.

Their bond deepens, and Jazz starts to see the depth of Arjun’s character. Meanwhile, Imran is pressured by Susan’s parents to convert to Christianity and change his name, which deeply distresses him. He ultimately refuses, standing firm in his identity.

One night, Jazz asks Arjun for a divorce. Heartbroken, Arjun confides in his family over the phone, breaking down in tears from the emotional toll. Jazz witnesses this and, touched by his vulnerability, comforts him. They dance, and Arjun tells her that even if they grow old apart, he will return to London someday to meet her where they first met.

Jazz moves forward with the wedding to Charlie. At the altar, Arjun—who everyone believed couldn’t speak English—speaks fluently, shocking everyone. He reveals he always knew English but chose silence to honor his Indian identity. He gives his blessing to Jazz and Charlie, then walks away in tears.

But Jazz, finally realizing her love for Arjun and the pain she’s caused him, calls off the wedding. Remembering their marriage in India and moved by Arjun's silent love, she runs out to find him. Her family supports her decision joyfully. Charlie, left alone and angry, watches her go.

Jazz catches up to Arjun, and they reunite. The film ends with the couple riding on Arjun’s motorcycle in India. Arjun reveals he had hinted at his English fluency earlier—during Charlie’s uncle’s racist remarks—but kept it hidden because, above all, he is proud to be Indian. Jazz smiles, finally embracing both her roots and her love.
