अयोध्या में 3 प्रकार की परिक्रमाएं की जाती हैं अयोध्या में कुल 3 परिक्रमाएं करने का विधान है। पहली परिक्रमा 84 कोसी है जिसे अधिकतर साधु-संत करते हैं। दूसरी 14 कोसी और तीसरी 5 कोसी परिक्रमा है। 14 कोसी और 5 कोसी परिक्रमा ग्रहस्थ लोगों द्वारा की जाती है और यह अयोध्या नगरी के अंतर्गत आती है। 84 कोसी परिक्रमा अयोध्या नगरी के साथ ही उसके आस पास के नगरों में भी की जाती है। अयोध्या की 84 कोसी परिक्रमा के पीछे मान्यता है कि जो एक बार सच्ची श्रद्धा से पूरे नियम के साथ अयोध्या की 84 कोसी परिक्रमा कर लेता है। फिर उसे 84 योनियों में नहीं भटकना पड़ता है और अंत में उसे मोक्ष मिल जाता है। कार्तिक मास में अयोध्या नगरी की परिक्रमा करने का सबसे शुभ महीना माना जाता है।
