Hello and welcome to the fourth and final day of this enthralling red-ball series between India A and South Africa A coming live from BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 1 Bengaluru. India A won the first Unofficial Test by 3 wickets in what was a thrilling run chase. Now they find themself in a dominating position in the second Unofficial Test and are on course to seal the two-match series. The equation for the fourth and final day is simple.
South Africa A need 392 runs to level the series and have all 10 wickets in hand. It is a day four wicket and will have something for the pacers early on. Spinners might come into play later in the day. India A have a mainstream pace attack and that could be too hot to handle for the tourists. India A didn't have a great start with Abhimanyu Easwaran bagging a pair. The Indian Test-capped players - KL Rahul B Sai Sudharsan Devdutt Padikkal and nightwatchman Kuldeep Yadav.
All got into double figures but none of them could go past the 30-run mark. Rishabh Pant took a few body blows and was retired hurt at one point in time but came back to score a breezy half-century in his trademark style but it came after a mammoth 184-run partnership between Dhruv Jurel and Harsh Dubey. Dubey scored an excellent 84.
Jurel kept going and struck his second century in the match adding more headache to the Indian selectors ahead of the Kolkata Test match. India declared with a score of 382/7 setting a massive 417-run target for the touring party. South Africa A negotiated a tough period at the fag end of day 3 as their openers.
Jordan Hermann & Lesego Senokwane - battled hard for 11 overs scoring 25 runs. More importantly the opening stand is not broken yet with India A's pace trio - Siraj Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna - failing to eke out an early breakthrough. An enthralling final day finish is on the cards.
The third day has belonged to India. South Africa A have managed to negotiate the final hour of the day sans losing any wicket but they need 392 more for the victory and the task will not be easy for them at all. KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav came out to bat in the morning session today but they couldn't do much for the hosts.
Kuldeep got out for 16 and Rahul scored 27 before Cele removed him. Rishabh Pant tried a few funky hits but succumbed three blows in his body before getting retired hurt. Dhruv Jurel and Harsh Dubey stepped up right there. They batted very well in the middle and played their shots at times. Jurel continued his fine form in which he was in the first innings.
Harsh Dubey played the perfect second fiddle to him and he notched up his 9th fifty in First Class cricket. But when the second new ball was taken he got dismissed only in the third ball by Tshepo Moreki. But before that he contributed 84 runs to the team total. Rishabh Pant then came back and joined Jurel in the crease.
They started scoring in a jiffy and Jurel got to his hundred. Their partnership yielded 82 runs from 54 balls. Pant got out for 65 off 54 balls hitting 5 fours and 4 maximums and India A decided to declare the innings with a whopping lead of 416 runs. Dhruv Jurel remained unbeaten on 127 facing 170 balls with 15 fours and a solitary maximum.
With 54 minutes left in the day's play Proteas came to bat. Jordan Hermann looked comfortable in the crease at times but Senokwane was all at sea against the seam movement produced by the Indian new ball bowlers. He was beaten comprehensively quite a few times narrowly escaped from getting an outside edge made a few tight leaves and it was a miserable stay for him. However he survived the menace and remained unbeaten on 9 off 36 balls while.
